Our Parent Company

Our Parent Company: Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc.

The parent company of Industrial Alliance Pacific is Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc. (Industrial Alliance). Industrial Alliance was born of a merger, in 1987, of Industrial, created in 1905 in Québec City, and Alliance, founded in 1892 in Montréal.

A few years before the merger between Industrial and Alliance, in 1982, Industrial acquired North West Life (now Industrial Alliance Pacific). In 1985 Industrial acquired North West Life's U.S. twin, North West Life of America. In 1988, Industrial Alliance bought National Life of Canada, a Toronto-based life insurance company.

In 1996 Industrial Alliance merged with The Solidarity, a life insurance company based in Québec City. In 1999 Seaboard Life Insurance Company, of Vancouver, joined the Industrial Alliance Group. The business of Seaboard Life was transferred to North West Life on June 1, 1999 and they now operate under the name Industrial Alliance Pacific Insurance and Financial Services Inc. (Industrial Alliance Pacific).

Today, the Industrial Alliance Group is a national company, with operations in all regions of Canada and the Western United States.
